As a Noun:
1. A single unit of language that can be represented in writing, sign, fingerspelling, or speech. In English, a word has a space on either side of it when it is written. A word can usually have one or more meanings. English = word.
2. Some younger signers accept this as an everyday Auslan sign, but the majority of signers, especially older signers, regard this sign as an invented sign (for Signed English in education). Most Auslan signers prefer to use the other signs that match the keyword ‘word’ that are also found here in Signbank.
